Hardee's Stadium

First in a series celebrating the stadium (cathedral?) in which I grew up following my beloved birds. Bye Bye Busch, we hardly knew ye.

Tom -- do you ever get a chance to do aerial photos? -- your pix of Busch made me think of that since it looks so great from above http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=38.624046,-90.192604&spn=0.007135,0.012435&t=k&hl=en

I always thought the stadium to be an interesting building. It is quite sad to be seeing it go. Great shot with all the people coming and going - that's what makes it live, the people who come.

Can't wait to see it in person!

I really, really wish I had more time (and the remaining games weren't already sold our or close to) that I could get up to Busch for another game or three before she comes down. But getting there to see the Cards thump the Sawx in "World Series: The Rematch" on 6/6 will be a good memory I'll carry with me til I die... which at the rate I'm going is about 35 or 40 minutes from now.

Curious to see how the new venue will treat this type of outdoor signage. During the winter, I was working down near the park and, with time to just walk around, I was really struck at volume of advertising outside the stadium and throughout the interior concourses. Though people love the old yard, it's a fairly cluttered, junky exterior, perfectly captured above. Would hope that there's a more tasteful, cohesive way of displaying it all in '06.

What a dump. I'll be glad to see the concrete oven come down. It's a football stadium masquerading as a bleedin' ballpark. If it quacks like a duck, waddles like a duck and @#$# like a duck, then it must be a freakin' cookie cutter dump that has outlived it's usefulness. Bye, Bye Busch, you sweltering oven pit...

What makes Busch special are the fans. The Fans will be at the new ballpark and within 2 years, nobody is going to miss this heat trap and pining for the good ol' days of Rug and Heat.
